My priorities

I love Moses Lake! I love the people in our community — who work hard, who care for each other, and who want this city to thrive. I want that too. My wife Caitlin and I are raising our four young children here, and we want them to grow up in a city that is safe — where gang violence, illegal drug use, and rampant homelessness are things of the past. We want to keep the cost of living low, support our small businesses, and minimize taxes and fees on our hardworking citizens. We want to see more innovation and modern solutions in our city government, so it’s easier for people to get the help they need.

I’m running to bring fresh vision, common sense, and conservative values to help guide Moses Lake in the right direction.
Public Safety
Keeping our community safe should be our #1 priority. Yet, according to Crimegrade.org, Moses Lake is in the 15th percentile for overall safety compared to other cities in Washington. This means it is less safe than 85% of cities in the U.S. Our people shouldn't fear being a victim of a violent crime when they're shopping at Safeway or visiting a park. I'll work to expand our investments in our law enforcement, making sure we have enough police officers to patrol and keep our community safe. I'll also work to tackle homelessness by helping and directing resources toward those who want it and enacting stricter measures to keep the homeless away from public areas and business storefronts.
Affordability
With our recent surge in population growth, we have a serious housing shortage in Moses Lake. We need to do more to enable faster construction of new homes, at all price points. If we don't make it easier for developers to build more homes in our area, it's going to impact our ability to attract new businesses and increase the number of family-wage jobs available to our city. We also need a City Council who will first look to reduce spending instead of looking first to raise taxes on our hardworking citizens. Affordability is one of the reasons many people are moving to Moses Lake. Let's keep it that way.
Transparency
We need to do a better job increasing transparency and communicating openly with citizens about why decisions are being made. Many voters I've talked to doubt that the Council is always making decisions in the best interest of the people — and a lot of this comes down to a lack of openness and transparency. A transparent and open government will help to rebuild trust between the Council and the city, as well as between the city and the public. To increase awareness and understanding about city issues, I've started the #AllInForMosesLake Video Series where I interview local leaders and community champions about issues that voters care about. I would commit to continuing that initiative as your City Councilmember, and also to push for more ways to make it easier for the public to share issues and concerns with the City and the City Council.
Innovation
There is so much opportunity to bring more innovation to our city. Yet too often I think our city has been complacent and not acted quickly enough to changing circumstances. One example is technology, which is evolving so rapidly and has the potential to disrupt the way we provide services to our residents. Yet our systems are years out of date, making it harder for people to get the right information when they need it. We need new thinking, new ideas, and a bias for action. Let's embrace innovation and stop kicking the can down the road on issues like technology, water, infrastructure, economic development, and energy. Let's support entrepreneurs, STEM education, and technology skills, so our community doesn't get left behind. Let's learn from what other cities are doing well and deliver more efficient, effective services to members of our community.
Community Spirit
The small town vibe of Moses Lake is one of the best things we have going for ourselves. I'd like to see more events that bring the town together and build connections among our growing population. We can do more to strengthen bonds between the city government, community organizations, and our people, so everyone has the opportunity to engage and learn about the great things happening here. If more of our people are engaged, we're going to work harder to help our city reach its full potential. Let's go All In For Moses Lake!
